Day Seven: Estella

Photo op as we approached Cirauqui. We are definitely in wine country!

A few days ago we finally received our hiking poles from the airlines.  Yesterday we found people that needed poles and passed on the ones we bought in St Jean. It's been fun to see our old, new poles and their happy new owners each day.  Maybe that's why we like this trek so much, it's a Camino thing that when someone needs something, the next person they meet seems to have it to give away.  I met a man from Poland yesterday who said he was ready to quit walking a couple of days ago, at that point a guy from New Mexico stopped and massaged out the pain.  That stuff just happens here!

Tonight we are in Estella. Even though our walk today wasn't any longer than yesterday, it seemed longer!  I'm pretty sure that I didn't eat enough or take enough breaks. I'm not going to do that again!  It has been pretty hot for a few days too, so we are all planning on leaving early, while it's cool tomorrow for our longest stage so far, 29 kilometers to Torres del Rio.

There are festivities going on here, medieval music, and lots of activities for kids. Fun, but I'm sure the festive noise will last well into the wee hours of the morning!
