Day Six: Puente la Reina

Puente means bridge in Spanish. We have crossed many beautiful old bridges already, and will see and cross many more. But they are all so nice and picturesque, I have to post another bridge photo!  This one was built for or by a queen a long time ago.  Right after I took this photo, a handsome young local boy called out from where he was climbing on the bridge abutments with his friends, "Hello, where are you from?"  Since he couldn't hear our answer, he came down to practice his English with Wig, Vic, Kay and I. We were soon surrounded by a group of happy youngsters, and we had so much fun!  I wanted to take a photo, but the timing didn't happen. I'm sad, the ring leader was quite a character, and just as cute as can be. They told us that they are in the sixth year of school, several had very good English.  One of the funny things the future president of Spain tried to explain was why the bridge was called the queens bridge.  He started to tell us that a queen lived on the bridge, but clearly decided that wasn't quite right, so after a quick consultation with one of the girls in Spanish, he changed the subject!

Otherwise, I'm going to sound like a broken record:  we had a wonderful day again!

Windmill at the top of a pass called "Alto de Pardon".  Last year I heard that Spain is the top producer of wind power in the world!
