Spent the last two days missing all three of my kids plus the two incher in the oven. Always wondering if I can give them any wisdom to make them content and happy as we are.
Last night was a surprise. Got our own private room in this alburge in Navarette. Got showered and change and Laura starts checking out the beds by checking corners, undersheets and mattress when she finds two critters. She informs me and I catch and throw them into a baggie. We head into town to ask the pharmacist, he's not sure but thinks it's a bed bug. We ask two hospitaleros in another alburgue and both say they don't know what bedbugs look like. If you are a hospitalero, bed bugs are your business. We go to the tourist information service and google and get a positive id on the bug and sure enough, they are bed bugs. The guy at the information place ask what alburgue it is and says the hospitalero is a nice guy and says he will report it. Definitely doubt that as it means having to close the place down for 30 days. This is pretty much how epidemics begin.
We quickly grab all our belongings, tell the rest of our friends staying there about it and head on to an expensive hotel just outside town as everything in town is booked. Two hours to check each and every item for infestation before finally collapsing past midnight on a day we walked 34 km, not to mention nerve trauma. Laura dreamt about bed bugs crawling all over her and I dreamed about murders all night. Having a late start this morning as it is almost 9am.
Miss you and love you Dad! You and Mom are an inspiration!
