This was my Hawaiian burger last night. It had bacon, pineapple, ham, aioli on a baguette. And queso. See what I mean about not being able to add, delete or correct.
Early start this morning with about an hour with headlamps even when we started just before 7. Lunchtime in the town of Najera as we wait for over 20 minutes for my much awaited Chinese restaurant to open. It never does, utter disappointment. It will be the only Chinese food on this trip. If you are Chinese, you will know why my heart is broken. Camino de Santiago can mean penance for your sins as you walk hundreds of miles. I suffer in complete silence as I hold back tears and put up a brave front for Laura. The Camino can be so cruel.
We started our walk three weeks later than our previous Camino and we have missed quite a few things. We have missed the extreme hot weather, we have missed the crowded albergues and the fight for beds, we have missed the wine harvest and grapes along the Camino have been slim pickings. The smiling sunflowers that normally greet us each morning have also gone on vacation. Hopefully the bed bugs have done the same.
Yellow arrows show us where to go. This picture shows at least 4 arrows going different directions. Our experience kept us from being confused but we saw quite quite a few lost peregrinos this morning. Laura is dressed like a real pilgrim showing you how far we've travelled so far.
