Najera to Santo Domingo

Nice short day today, only 21k! The weather was beautiful, and so was the trail. As we crested a hill we were rewarded with a lovely view of a snow covered mountain in the distance, photo op, but it was really much prettier than the camera thinks! That majestic mountain stayed in view on our left for the rest if the day. Another range of jagged snow dusted mountains was on our right. The terrain here is sure a lot more mountainous than I expected. All that snow all around us fell during our cold wet day yesterday. We saw on the news that it snowed in Pamplona, glad we started last week!
We caught Judy and Sonia by the first stop for coffee, and walked with them the rest of the way. They sure have been a delight to travel with.
We met a woman from France that is always smiling, and such a beautiful infectious smile too! Didn't get to spend much time with her today, but I'm sure we'll see her again
As Wig and I walked around town this evening, we found out we could climb the stairs in the church tower, so we did... We even paid for the privilege! Why not climb six stories of extra big steps after a day of walking?! Going down was the hard part, I guess we are a little sore from all of the miles we put in this last week!

  1. Hello! Finally I figured out how to comment! I've read all your posts and love all the pictures! I can't imagine how you guys are feeling right now... physically and emotionally. Glad to know your meeting lots of friends :) I got the message about your ATM card :( That's awful. I'm sorry that happened. Hope it's not hindering your trip too much. I told Brandon about all your culinary experiences! He's jealous :) I will comment again soon. Keep all the photos comin! We miss you both.
    Love,
    Chrissy, Brandon and Wallie
