We have fallen into a habit of getting up before 6 & on the road before 7. Snacks always involve sweet mandarins, bread, cheese and almonds in milk chocolate, simple but highly anticipated on our walks. When we reach our destination, a quick shower and we are off to a no holds barred meal. Meals have been fantastic as we have had rabbit, dried cod, pork ribs, wild turkey, all swimming in butter. Everything tastes so delicious that we have given up on deciphering the menu & gone on to trying anything that sounds alien.
We seemed to have hit it off with a bunch of folks from Australia, Ireland, Sweden & the US & spent the afternoon together. I know, they all speak English but I'm tired of playing Charades.
I was in shock last night when we went back to our room & found 8 women in it. I was paranoid of waking up the next morning & getting mean looks from 8 pairs of bloodshot sleepless eyeballs due to my incessant snoring. Luckily, another couple joined in & I apparently was drowned out by snorers of the opposite sex.
We had a bit of rain today & got to try our ponchos. Not bad as it was easy enough to fling back towards our backpacks in between showers. Forecast is for rain & snow tonight & possibly tomorrow. Looking forward to our 30 km walk tomorrow. I read we have a short but extremely steep climb and descent at the 10km mark. Until next time, buen Camino.
