We made it! Despite a forecast for rain all day, we didn't get caught by any. The streets of Pamplona were wet when we left and the trail up to Alta del Perdon, our big climb of the day, was very muddy. There were dark clouds rolling down from the Pyrenees but we were so speedy, they didn't catch us!
The trail was beautiful despite the mud and we were treated to wide vistas of green fields, and small towns all with their old stone churches. There were hills and mountains all around us. At the high point of the day there was the sculpture of pilgrim silhouettes as well as humming electricity generating windmills. We could see forever in all directions
We walked through three of the small pretty towns, and are now resting in another quiet hotel. Dinner is not til 8pm we'll see if we can stay awake that long! That big bowl of yummy risotto con fungi that I had for lunch will keep me happy til dinner. So much for losing that half pound a day!
There are lots of people walking the Camino. So far we met one couple from North Carolina, everyone else sped past us with a friendly "buen Camino"
This is just FUN!!
